Revisited: Feng Shui @ Chelmsford, MA

This is one rare occasion the husband and I went to Feng Shui for their ala carte menus. Our past visits there were mainly for their mouthwatering Sunday buffet dinner which serves lobster and a variety of sushi in addition to regular Chinese food. I’ve written about Feng Shui and it’s Sunday dinner buffet HERE and HERE.

We were craving Sushi…or was it just me and I wasn’t in the mood to travel too far away from home to satiate my craving for sushi. Feng Shui was the nearest to us and we know they serve quality food and have a great atmosphere. We’ve always enjoyed dining there in their (quite new) and tastefully decorated dining area.

Here’s what we ordered:

1) Chirashi @ $18 – 12 pieces of sashimi on a bed of sushi rice. This is a set that came with a cup of miso soup and salad (with ginger dressing). I’ve been wanting to order Chirashi since the first time I had it in Chicago. The dish as nicely presented, colorful and definitely appetizing. I love the sushi rice which was sprinkled with Furikake. The sushi were fresh and the raw fish slices were quite generous. Except for the salmon and tuna sashimi, I don’t know what the rest were. There were 2 slices of sesame coated fish which was then quickly seared. And the chef actually gave me 13 pieces of sashimi, plus two slices of Tamagoyaki (Japanese Omelet).

2) Makimono Combo @ $19 - Spicy Tuna, California & Crazy Maki (Bottom Left). This also came with a cup of miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The 3 kind of maki that came in this set was probably some of the most popular ones. Spicy Tuna is sushi roll with chopped raw tuna, mayo, chili and cucumber. California Maki is sushi roll with imitation crabstick, cucumber, avocado and tobiko. Crazy Maki is sushi roll with shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, spicy mayonnaise, tobiko with nori (seaweed) on the outside. Pretty good overall. I don’t care for the California Maki that much but do love the Spicy Tuna maki.

3) Spider Maki @ $10 – Deep fried soft shell crab with avocado, cucumber & tobiko (Bottom Right). We ordered this to share and I thought it actually cost more than $10. This wasn’t the greatest maki I’ve seen. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still delicious, but we felt the “workmanship” on the Spider Maki wasn’t there. It looked kinda sloppy.

Service there is often pretty good. And food is fresh and yes delicious! =)

If you’re in the area and want some Japanese or Chinese food, head over to Feng Shui for a good time. Plenty of parking so you don’t need to stress over that. Order a glass of plum wine to go with your meal!!! It’s really GOOD!
